LINK OF CINE-ASIA Seminar provides the latest film and video issues through in-depth discussions. This year's seminar, <Cooperation among Writers, Finding Solutions to New Growth> will be co-sponsored by Screenwriters Guild of Korea, and will discuss the need for mutual information exchanges among writers and the need to establish a global network as the importance of story contents is increasingly highlighted, including the advancement of local contents into foreign markets and the expansion of the possibility of international co-production. In addition, the seminar with Digital Bay on <Hyper-connected, a New Film Making Paradigm> looks forward on what changes and issues 5G will bring to film industry in the time of which the world’s first commercialization of 5G service and enlarged transformation of life through big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things became possible.

Cooperation among Writers, Finding Solutions to New Growth

Story content is becoming increasingly important as a foundation and core source of cultural industry, and the attraction of the story itself is having a tremendous impact on the success of the finished content. Corporate and government-level attention and support toward the storytelling industry continue in the United States, Europe, Asia, etc. It is expected that change in storytelling-related industries will be able to add new values through convergence and integration with various fields. In addition, discussions on the overseas expansion of local content and joint international production are growing, and need for mutual information exchange and global network building among screen and drama writers is also raised. In this seminar, we will examine the environment and status of scriptwriting by domestic and foreign writers, the system of developing scenarios and supporting writers by country, cases of overseas exchanges such as international co-production, and other related issues. Also, we will share ideas for improving problems and discuss ways to cooperate between regions and countries, based on our achievements and limitations.
Moderator		Joyce Heeyoung Cho Producer / Professor, Busan Asian Film School Biography ▶ Joyce is a media financing/producing specialist based in Seoul, Korea. She started her career as a producer at a local film house right after graduating from the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA) with a producing major in 2007. Her previous major work experience in the field includes CJ CGV, CJ E&M, and Timewise Investment, where she covered extensive range of roles from distributing to financing more than 50 local commercial films. In 2015, Joyce co-produced The Last Knights (2015), a US/Korea/Japan co-production epic directed by Kazuaki Kiriya, starring Clive Owen and Morgan Freeman. She recently co-produced a local webtoon titled <Ghost> published through a local webtoon platform Toomics, which plans to expand its prequel through a feature film.
Panelists		HWANG Joyoon Screenwriter Rampant (2018), Memoir of a Murderer (2017), Masquerade (2012) Biography ▶ Joyoon is a screenwriter of South Korea. He has written several feature film scenarios and TV drama scripts including Old Boy (2003), Masquerade (2012), Memoir of a Murderer (2017), Rampant (2018). He is also the vice president of Screenwriter’s Guild of Korea and chief writer of I-Chang Production.
		Onusa Donsawai & Pun Homchuen Screenwriter CRACKED (a.k.a. A Portrait of a Beauty) (2020), LINE TV Original ‘Instinct’ 8 part (2019) Biography ▶ Onusa Donsawai & Pun Homchuen are pair working as Director/Screenwriter. They earned a major from RANGSIT in Film and Video, as well as obtained a degree of Bachelor of Art. They were awarded at the Bangkok Critics Assembly Award and Starpics Awards. As well as being nominated for the Thailand Director Award, and Supanahong Award, to name a few. They wrote the script for Cracked (2020), currently in production.
		Kuokuang Wang Screenwriter HBO Asia TV Series ‘Dream Raider’ (2020), Jump Ashin! (2011) Biography ▶ Kuokuang Wang is a Taiwanese screenwriter. He has written numerous TV drama scripts and film screenplays that include Love Contract (2004), Exit No. 6 (2006), Play Ball (2009), and Metro of Love: The Thin Blue Lines (2016). Wang’s script for the inspirational sports movie Jump Ashin! (2011) was commercially successful and acclaimed by critics, having earned Golden Horse Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay. His recent screenplay ‘DREAM RAIDER’, HBO Asia’s upcoming science fiction series, will be released in early 2020.

Hyper-connected, a New Film Making Paradigm

The world’s first 5G service was commercialized in April 2019. The era of ultra-high-speed, ultra-connected, and ultra-low-latency has begun. It is predicted that 5G will make immense changes in a variety of fields beyond that of mobile phones. Many countries around the world are engaged in fierce competition for 5G technology and market dominance. What demands and changes are expected in the film industry for the 5G era? In this seminar, we will explore issues related to filmmaking linked to 5G technology, including OTT industry, transmedia, high-resolution digital production, special filming with Cinema Robotics, and focus on developments and efforts in the upcoming production environment.
Moderator		KOO Jaemo Professor, Korea University of Media Arts Biography ▶ KOO Jaemo is a professor and the Dean of the Department of Cinematography in Korea University of Media Arts (KUMA; www.pro.ac.kr) in South Korea since 2004. He is also an accomplished cinematographer in 35mm Film and Digital cinematography. Since attending one of the first Santa Fe Workshops over 16 years ago, he has trained thousands of DP's, Camera Operators, ACs and university students in many Asian countries. Now he is a Senior Coordinator Asia & Senior Instructor in Santa Fe International Workshops. His international filmography (35mm&Digital) includes feature films, music videos, commercials and documentaries. Also, he has authored numerous articles and authoritative books on cinematography and digital production, including ‘Digital High Definition Filmmaking‘ and ‘HDTV Production; Understanding and Practice’. Recently, he translated and published the book, 'Cinematography; Theory and Practice', authored by Blain Brown, into Korean. He is an expert underwater cinematographer and authorized scuba diving instructor trainer. He has been operating underwater cinematography workshops and has turned out more 400 underwater camera crews for over ten years. Panelists		Assaff Rawner CEO, Mark Roberts Motion Control Ltd (MRMC) Biography ▶ Assaff Rawner is the CEO of the British company, Mark Roberts Motion Control Ltd (MRMC). He has been involved in the film and broadcast industry and various aspects of Cinematography for over 25 years and has been instrumental in creating the best motion control rigs for Visual Effects, such as the Bolt High-speed Cinebot, Cyclops, Milo, and Titan, as well as many bespoke broadcast robotics. He is familiar with various VFX techniques and his creations are used daily around the world on feature films, commercials and TV programs, with a list of hundreds of blockbusters and thousands of well-known productions having used MRMC robotic cameras. With an electronic engineering degree, he joined MRMC in 1993 and quickly proved himself very capable in all aspects of engineering, including software, electronic and mechanical. Rapidly rising from Junior engineer to the Research and Development manager, and winning an Academy award for developing the Milo Motion Control rig in 1999, his keen business sense eventually led him to take over the management of the company from its Founder in 2003. After growing the company successfully, Nikon acquired MRMC in 2016, and Assaff continues the management of the company as its CEO to this day.
		Kevin KANG Production Technology Specialist, Netflix Biography ▶ Kevin Kang is currently in charge of Production Technology at Netflix in Korea. He also supports all of the production technologies from filming to finishing required in producing Netflix content. Previously, he ran DI teams at Dexter and CJ Powercast and has been a colorist for more than 120 works for over 15 years. When working as a colorist, Kevin was always leading the way in incorporating new video imaging and filming technology into actual work. Kevin also directly participated in developing the Cinevideo function installed in the LG V30 cell phone model in 2017. His representative works include Parasite (2019), Netflix original ‘Kingdom’ (2019), Train to Busan (2016), The Wailing (2016), Veteran (2015), Ode to My Father (2014) and Roaring Currents (2014).
		HA Jungsu Post Production Manager, Netflix Biography ▶ HA Jungsu graduated from Dongguk University’s Department of Film. After serving as KR unit 2nd Assistant Director in Wachowski’s ‘Sense8’ (2015), 2nd Assistant Director in PARK Chanwook’s The Handmaiden (2016), 2nd Assistant Director and VFX Coordinator in BONG Joonho’s s Okja (2017), and 1st Assistant Director in LEE Changdong’s Burning (2018), he is currently in charge of managing the second half of the filming process with domestic producers who are producing original content for Netflix Korea.
